Dr. Ishan Gunatunga has been a distinguished consultant radiologist at the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) and affiliated hospitals since 2010. Specializing in General and Musculoskeletal Imaging, Dr. Gunatunga offers extensive expertise in both diagnostic and interventional radiology.

Dr. Gunatunga earned his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in 1998. His medical journey continued with extensive training across various hospitals in the UK. In 2003, he joined the Radiology Training Programme in South Wales, achieving qualification as a general radiologist with a subspecialty in Musculoskeletal Imaging in 2008. Further enhancing his skills, Dr. Gunatunga completed a fellowship at the prestigious Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford before commencing his consultant role at ABUHB.

As a full-time consultant radiologist at ABUHB, Dr. Gunatunga also maintains admitting rights at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Newport and Nuffield Health Cardiff and Vale Hospitals. He provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and interventional services, including:
