The following are assessed during your pregnancy scan:

What to Expect During Your Pregnancy Scan

You’ll be asked to attend with a full bladder, as this helps provide a clearer view of the womb. During the scan, you’ll lie on a bed while ultrasound gel is applied to your lower abdomen and a probe is gently moved over the area.

If the abdomen scan doesn’t provide a clear view – due to the position of the womb, hydration level or earlier than expected pregnancy, we may perform a transvaginal scan. This involves inserting a thin probe in the vagina, offering clearer images and more detailed information. A transvaginal scan is generally comfortable with minimal discomfort. and ultrasound is safe for the developing baby.
