Menopause Management after Breast Cancer in Cardiff

For women who have undergone breast cancer treatment, the initial management of menopausal symptoms should focus on
lifestyle adjustments and non-hormonal therapies. These strategies include:

• Diet and Exercise: A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains, combined with regular physical activity,
  can help manage weight, improve mood, and enhance overall well-being.
• Stress Reduction: Techniques such as mindfulness, yoga, or relaxation exercises can alleviate stress and improve
  sleep quality, which can be beneficial for managing menopausal symptoms.
• Non-Hormonal Medications: Options such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) have been found effective in reducing hot flashes. We have other medication as well that can provide symptom relief

If symptom control is not achieved with non hormonal medication, HRT may be considered after consulting the Breast Care Team.
